Setting a Default Center Point on a Map

Learn how to set the location and zoom level that shows on the initial load of a Vivery map.

When a Vivery map user sees the map for the first time, they should see a general representation of the area your network serves. This doesn’t have to be perfectly accurate and it’s okay if other areas are shown; the user will add the search criteria and change the map to see their desired results.

To set the default map center point, in the left navigation menu click Settings, then click Map Settings

To select the map to edit, click the List icon in the map's row, then click Edit Map.

Setting the Center Point of the Map

In the field labeled Map Center, enter an address, neighborhood, city, or ZIP code to serve as the center of your map when users first see it. If you don’t know the center of your network’s territory, try entering your headquarters address.

Setting the Default Zoom Level

The default zoom level is how zoomed in or out the map is when first opened. Set the zoom level wider for a larger network or narrower for a smaller service area (covering a single city or zip code, typically).

In the field labeled Map Zoom Level, click to select the appropriate number from the dropdown list.

Zoom levels are represented by numbers 4-13 with 4 zoomed out the farthest and 13 zoomed in the most. For example, if you select a zoom level of 4, the map will show the entire US. If you select a zoom level of 13, you’ll see a map covering a radius of approximately 1.5 miles from the center point.

Many maps end up at zoom level 9 (several counties or zip codes) or 10 (roughly a 50-mile radius from the center point) as the most representative of their service area.

NOTE: Set the map’s center point first and then adjust the zoom level to best match the area the network serves.

Once the map center and zoom level are set, be sure to save changes at the bottom of the map settings page.
