To highlight summer feeding programs on your Find Food Map, you can create individual programs under each location that offers one. Below are the steps to make sure they’re clearly displayed for neighbors and easy to manage for your team:
1. Create a New Program for Each Location
For every site offering a summer feeding program, create a new program under that specific location in Vivery. Include all key details—such as program name, service type, distribution hours, and any other relevant information.
If the program is operated by the food bank BUT is run out of a partner's location you can add the program to their Location Profile. If you do not want to partner to have the option to edit the details of this program you can select the “Network Operated Program” checkbox in the Program Settings section of the Programs page.

2. Set the Program Status to “Active”
While the summer feeding program is running, set its status to Active. This ensures that it is viewable on your food bank’s Find Food Map and searchable by neighbors.
3. Tag the Program for Easy Management
Create a tag called “Summer Feeding Program” and attach it to each applicable program. This tag is visible internally to your food bank and will allow you to easily search, view, and manage all summer feeding programs from one list in the Programs tab.
4. (Optional) Enable the Tag as a Public Filter
If you’d like neighbors to be able to filter by Summer Feeding Program on the Find Food Map, you can turn this tag into a public-facing filter. Once enabled, neighbors can easily find all summer feeding programs with one click.
5. Clarify Eligibility and School Affiliation
To help neighbors understand who the program is for:
- Audience Served: Be sure to complete this section to indicate any limitation that the program may have. If the program is limited to those affiliated with a school (e.g., students or families) etc.
- Special Notes: Use this area to list the specific school(s) or areas the program serves, if applicable.
- Program Qualifications & Program Announcement: You can reinforce any eligibility requirements here, such as school enrollment, age groups, or residency criteria.
- Hours: Add Program Operating Hours if it is open to the public. Alternatively, you can use the "custom text" option if the program requires enrollment. Simply add text indicating “Enrollment is required, review program qualifications to learn more”
Providing this information ensures neighbors clearly understand whether they qualify and where to go.
6. Deactivate at the End of the Season
When the summer season ends, you can quickly locate all summer feeding programs by searching the “Summer Feeding Program” tag in your Programs list. From there, update their status to Inactive so they are no longer visible on the Find Food Map. This allows you to keep them in your system for easy reactivation next year.
(Alternative Option) Group Summer Programs Under a Separate Organization
If your summer feeding sites are run by your food bank and are mobile based or not operated out of your regular agency locations, you can choose to create a new organization in Vivery specifically for summer programs. Then:
- Add all summer feeding locations and programs under this one organization.
- At the end of the season, simply inactivate the entire organization to remove all summer sites from the Find Food Map at once.
This is a great option for food banks running temporary, mobile, or pop-up summer programs that aren’t tied to year-round locations.
