The default language is the language seen on the map when a map user first encounters it. With the translation widget, a user can change the language to their own.
The default radius is the search area from the center of the search (an address, city, county, etc.) to the edge of a circular perimeter. With the Radius drop-down list, a map user can change the search radius to adjust the search area while performing a search.
For a brand new map, the default language starts out set to English, and the default search radius set to 5 miles.
Setting the Default Language
To change the default language, from the left navigation menu, click Settings, then click Map Settings. From the Create and Manage Maps list, click the 3 vertical dots to the right of the map, then click Edit Map.
On the Map Settings page, first make sure that the desired default language is checked in the Translation Options section. If not, check the box next to the language, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes, then Ok in the confirmation popup.

Next, scroll down to the Filter Settings area. Under Default Language, click the drop-down list to select a different language. This language shows as the default when a user sees the map for the first time.

Setting The Default Selected Radius
From the Filter Settings area, under Default Selected Radius, click the drop-down list to select a different radius.
The ideal radius shows the map user lots of options. If the default radius is set too low, the map user may not get any results without adjusting the radius. In a more urban area, if the default radius is set too high, the map user may see one large cluster of pins instead of individual pins.
